Today's Thought: One person's trick is another person's treat. It's all about how your outlook and and how you choose to respond to whatever situation you find yourself in at the moment.
Today's Thought: You're either a dung beetle or just a piece of dung. Either way, I suppose the world needs both.
Today's Thought: Know your limits and test them often.
Today's Thought: A little levity goes a long ways. Find humor in the world around you and give yourself permission to laugh out loud. It's good for you and makes boring, uptight people think you are crazy. That in turn, keeps them from approaching you, which, believe me, is a very good thing.
Today's Thought: For many, Mondays are a masochist's dream come true; that reliable, painful start to the work week. But Mondays are also a cautious optimist's dream come true; that even when life sucks today, there is ultimately a better, and more bearable tomorrow. :)
Today's Thought: Unlike big bars of chocolates, not everything that brings a smile to your face, a spring to your step or a twinkle to your eyes is meant to be shared. People resent happy people and people sometimes go to great lengths to bring you down to their level of misery.
So learn when & how keep the joy derived from your private pleasures, thoughts & indulgences to yourself.
Today's Thought: Your life is a snow globe: it was meant to be shaken up, sometimes hourly. Chaos keeps things interesting. If you don't change things up a bit -- be it how you do your job, how you do your spouse, how you feed your body and your mind -- then life (people & events) will come along and change things for you.
Today's Thought: The only true limitations are personal fear, individual laziness and a limited imagination. A fearless (able to handle rejection, the untried and the potential for failure), creative thinker (one who keeps coming up with new ideas and approaches) with a strong work ethic (willing to see the best, most viable idea from start to finish) is virtually unstoppable.
Today's Thought: Naps are good way to recharge and stay sane. Take one or two daily, especially when you're working long hours, taking on a stressful project, juggling lots or roles & responsibilities, or taking in lots of new information.
Today's Thought: If you can find a reason to laugh, you can make it through any situation. Just maintain the discipline not to laugh at the wrong time, wrong place or in front of the wrong person.
Today's Thought: We don't need no stinkin' holiday to tell or show our sweetests we love them.
Today's Thought: About 102 people die every minute and you weren't one of them. That is a pretty good reason to celebrate while you still can.
Today's Thought: Believe what you want & need to. Your narrative is your truth, the rock you'll cling to during your toughest moments. So flesh out the details.
Who will you see again? What will they look like...? How big & beautiful will heaven be when you get there? What will a pain-free eternity mean to you? In the end, your guess is as good anyone else's; It's the only guess that really matters.
Today's Thought: When the convictions of your heart are betrayed by the hatred in your words and the anger in your eyes, you have done a disservice to your self, to your cause, and the One you claim to speak on behalf of. I suggest you take a deep breath and chill the f*€k out.
Today's Thought: Being called "mom" or "dad" is one of most beautiful compliments you can get, a true symbol of your child's affections. The day may come when you lose your right to be referred to as mom or dad ever again, a day you'll be lucky to be called by your first name (more likely an explicative). So enjoy the title while its still given to you freely.
Today's Thought: Humor makes the tough times easier & the easier times memorable. Start by finding a reason to chuckle at your own mess ups. A person with the power to smile and laugh more than they sulk and wallow in misery is invincible. :)
Today's Thought: Where we live, we spend a lot of time marveling at the beautiful, rapidly changing colors of Fall. We celebrate the death of foliage. Why can't we be as celebratory and in awe of our own deaths and the passing of the people around us? The colors change. Things die. But rebirth comes in one form or another.
Today's Thought: I feel our loved ones who have passed physically are able to be with us in spirit. Energetically, they are literally just a thought away and they are able to enjoy a new existence, free from pain, clocks, drama & traffic jams. We may not see them, but we feel their presence. I can deal with that.
Today's Thought: All this attention on bullying... As a kid, I learned the hard way that the only effective way to deal with a bully is to fight back. Learn to punch hard & fast. Aim for the nose, the jaw, the solar plexus & their stomach. Take the courage to defend yourself. If you're ever going to be an "individual" you have to swallow your fear, stop turning the other cheek & start kicking bully ass.
Today's Thought: Google Maps gave me reaaaallly bad directions today, but I found where I needed to be anyways... This leads me to Today's Thought: Even when you get turned around & the map takes you 28 miles in the wrong direction, take a deep breath, slow down & enjoy the ride. You never know what you might discover!
Today's Thought: A Christmas angel at Marshall's had a powerful message to share... "With Faith, all things all possible. Love makes it easy to do."
Today's Thought: Isn't it liberating to know that in the very end -- regardless of who you are, who you love or despise, what you believe, say or do -- it will still be as though you never even existed?
Today, I revel in my ultimate insignificance. Though I'll always do my best (because that matters to me), it's nice to keep in mind that ultimately it's a moot point..
Today's Thought: Live your life as if don't get a 2nd chance to live it again. Assume that you have once chance to say what you really think, & how you really feel. Clarify what it is you really want to do & where you really want to be. Then go for it.
Today's Thought: Invest no envy when observing what appears to be the "perfect" anything. Perfect marriages, perfect kids, perfect health, perfect jobs, perfect finances...seldom are. So appreciate what you have & keep those who seem to have it all in your prayers.
This may seem easier said than done as one can argue that we all have some kind of envy that points back to the things we lack in our own lives.
We all have blessings and we all have myriad challenges and voids. They're just different blessings, challenges and voids than our neighbor, sibling or tabloid celebrity du jour. Envy takes away your ambition to focus on other things.
